Christmas Dress

I realized as I'm planning what to make for my "birthday outfit" this year that I never posted pics of my Christmas dress. I saw this silver/black plaid taffeta at Joanns and just had to make something out of it. In hindsight I think a 1950's circle skirt might have been more appropriate, but I still love this dress - as evidenced my dancing in this photo:
I used a 1960's reproduction pattern and it fit perfectly! I might make another dress or two from this pattern modifying the neck-line and arm styles. My only concern is that the retro style of the dress coupled with the shiny taffeta made it seem a little "sci-fi astronaunt" but I still felt glamourous wearing it.

modeling is hard - I always look weird - do I look like I belong in Star Trek?

One of my favorite details: I added 2 of my vintage buttons to the collar to finish it off.
